Welcome to Geography

We are delighted you are joining us. Here you can find all the information you'll need to settle in and prepare for a new and exciting chapter of your life. You can find more information about arriving at Leeds in the Arrival section of our For Students website.

In light of the changes to studying at Leeds this year, the University has also created an institutional resource dedicated to welcoming all new students that will be sent to you in your welcome email.

Key staff and students in your School would like to welcome you!

Your Induction - More than a Week!

Although you will be attending sessions as part of an induction week from Monday 21 September – Friday 25 September, we would like to emphasise that the process of welcoming you to the university and to our school, and getting you off to the best possible start as a Leeds student, is something we take seriously and we do not cram into just one week. Induction begins from the moment your place is confirmed and continues well into the first Semester and indeed the first year, when you will be settling into life as a student in our School and the University.

Before induction week, you will:

  • Receive a welcome e-mail from the School.

  • Get a full induction timetable of what is happening, and when.

During induction week, you will:

  • Meet key staff including the Head of School, Director of Student Education, programme leaders and the support staff.

  • Be introduced to student representatives.

  • Be shown where and how to find out all the information you need to know about starting at the School of Geography.

  • Have access to FAQ’s and an online anonymous Question and Answer board so you can ask a question whenever it springs to mind – even if it’s the middle of the night! (Answers given the next working day!).

  • Have the opportunity to meet as many Geography new starters as possible (virtually) to grow your social network in the first few days.

  • Interact with students and staff through live online sessions so you get used to the online way of working.
