Student Voice newsletters

The Student Voice newsletter can be viewed in the Student Voice area of our School Minerva Organisation.

This newsletter has been designed and written by students for students. It includes a welcome from key staff in your School and students who will represent you during your first year at Leeds, including your School Rep. You will also find a jargon buster to help you understand the new people and places which exist across the University.

Course Representatives

Each University course, including undergraduate and postgraduate courses, has Course Representatives - students who are elected by their fellow students at the start of each academic year. Course Representatives are expected to collect feedback from students on their course and present this feedback to members of staff in the school at Student Staff Forum meetings throughout the academic year.

You will be given information about the course rep role and how to apply during induction week, but if you have any questions in the meantime please email us at civil@leeds.ac.uk.

School Representatives

School Reps are appointed by the LUU to represent the views and be the voice of students in your School, promoting student-led change. They play a fundamentally important role in ensuring your School and the University provide the best possible academic experience for students, and a better place to work and study. Undergraduate students will meet your School Rep during induction week. Postgraduate students will have the chance to apply for the position once the academic year begins.

Study Abroad

TheStudy Abroad Programme is an exciting and challenging opportunity to gain experience of living and studying in another culture as part of your degree. You can convert your degree into a study abroad degree by spending an additional year overseas, before returning to Leeds to complete your final year of study.

Year in Industry

All undergraduate students will have the opportunity to spend a year of their programme working in Industry, either between second and third year or between third and fourth year. Students will have the opportunity to work with our Faculty Employability team to identify industrial partners with whom they will be able to gain invaluable professional experience.

CompSoc

---

The School of Computing Society, CompSoc is open to all students in the School. They organise many social events throughout the year and are always happy to receive new suggestions for events. More information can be found on the LUU website.
